I am happy to announce the appointment of Ed Best as Drumming Commissioner of Education and Learning.  Ed will be working in conjunction with John Partanen who is our Piping Commissioner.  Ed brings with him years of experience both in solo and band settings and has served in leadership capacities with the Music board over the last several years.

As you might know, the primary focus of the Education and Learning Commission is to develop curriculum for secondary and high school education in piping and drumming with the ultimate goal of developing and implementing a fully accredited curriculum for University credit.

With Ed’s appointment as Drumming Commissioner, he will be leaving his post on the WUSPBA Music Board.  His hard work and leadership over the past years on the Music Board is greatly appreciated and he will be missed, however, he has already been recruited to serve on a Music Board sub committee and will not be too far away from the Music Board scene.

I congratulate Ed on this new endeavor.  This is an enormous undertaking but I have full confidence in Ed’s abilities and welcome him to his new post.
